BridgeHouse

Mission:

BridgeHouse is a simple community. We have no privileged membership, no high-sounding targets, no politics, no brawls and no unnecessary formalities.

Our missions are:

Last but not the least, we thoroughly understand that new learners and novice players always experience frustrations and feel helpless. Therefore, we give support and offer assistance to these players.

Our success is resulted from the enthusiastic support, in whatever forms, from YOU!

Members do not take any share of the profits or any share of the assets upon dissolution.

Free Game Policy:

Players who win a year-round match will be eligible to a free game in the immediate next year-round event match held by the Bridge House. This free game is not transferable.

Free Games will be only applicable in the year-round events, including Ladder Team (Bridge Friends Cup), Ladderette Team (TK Lum Memorial Cup), IMP Pairs (Andy Chiu Cup), MP Pairs (SC Kan Cup) and All-rounded Pairs (LT Cup). All qualifications are excluded.

Systems & Conventions Restrictions

Currently, we allow systems ranging from Green (Natural), Blue (Big Clubs, Precision, etc) to Red (Multi-Club). However, Yellow systems (Highly Unusual Methods such as Forcing Pass) and Brown-stickers conventions are not allowed. Moreover, we have the following restrictions as well:

1. Psychic bids, whether protected/required by the system or not, are strictly prohibited in our tournaments.

2. Opening bids: a two level opening bid in a minor showing a weak two in either major, which does not promise at least six cards in that major along with at least six high card points, is not allowed.

3. Overcalls: any suit overcall of an opening bid and/or its direct, non-intervened response is not allowed if that could be weak (values below average strength) AND does not promise at least four cards in a known suit, except: The bid always shows at least four cards in a known suit if it is weak; If the bid does not show a known four card suit it must show a hand a king or more over average strength. We encourage players to notify their opponents about their bidding systems before they play.

In order to maintain the pleasure bridge environment, pre-alert arrangement requirement is highly recommended if a pair had Convention Card. Otherwise, pre-alert was necessary. We highly recommend the pre-alert arrangement proposed by EBU (English Bridge Union) as follows: http://www.ebu.co.uk/documents/laws-and-ethics/convention-cards/announcements-table.pdf
