Scores will be posted on the web not later than 3 working days. Any error found and score amendment request please submit to hkbridgehouse@hotmail.com before the coming Monday midnight for our convenience.
The formats and procedures for the Single Cup Events are applicable for the bridge year 2012 only.
A Mitchell movement will be used for all sections with more than 7 tables. 2 or more sections will be made if there are 16 tables or more. The pair accumulated the highest match-points (across the sections if necessary) is the winner. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks in each direction.
It will be held together with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bridge House. The AGM and the trophy presentation will be held at the middle of the game. The Chiu Ming Cup will be presented right after the end of the match. Scores will not be adjusted after the presentation of trophies.
A single round-robin, direct matches or multiple team movement will be played over 3 sessions without a final. The team accumulated the most victory points (VPs) will be the winner. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks.
A 2-session pair movement (probably 2 sections of Mitchell, whenever appropriate) will be used. The pair accumulated the highest match-points (or percentage, if necessary) is the winner. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks in each direction.
Year-round Events
The formats and procedures for the Year-round Events are applicable for the bridge year 2012 only.
TWO sessions of qualifying rounds will be played without a final. A single round-robin, direct matches or multiple team movement will be used in these 2 sessions to identify the teams in Ladders A, B and C of the first Ladder Team event.
A quartet (4 teams) will be qualified into Ladders A and B. The Ladders A and B will maintain a quartet, if possible, throughout the year. They will play with direct matches of 9 boards each, without half-time. There is NO Ladder D or below. ALL new teams will be starting from Ladder C. The number of Ladders will depend on the number of registered teams:

If there are 4 or less teams in the Ladder, the WBF VP scale will be used with a bonus of 5 VPs added for each direct match won and 2.5 VPs for a tie. If there are 5 or more teams in the Ladder, Swiss VP scale will be used without extra bonus VPs.
The last 2 teams in Ladder A will be demoted to Ladder B and the top 2 teams in Ladder B will be promoted to Ladder A of the next Ladder Team event. Similarly, the last 2 teams in Ladder B will be demoted to Ladder C (or to Ladders C1 and C2 separately) and the top 2 teams in Ladder C (or the winning team in Ladder C1 and the one in C2) will be promoted to Ladder B of the next Ladder Team event. For ties, direct matches and then IMP Quotients will be taken into account accordingly.
Moreover, every team should have anchor players. Ranking point will be given to the each team in the following basis:
Ladder A : 20, 17, 14, 12
Ladder B : 14, 11, 9, 7
Ladder C(s) : 9, 7, 5, 3, 1, 1, 1 …
The overall winner is the team accumulating the most ranking points from the best 7 out of 9 Ladder Team events, excluding the qualifying rounds. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks. For ties, all 9 Ladder Teams events will be taken into account.
TWO sessions of qualifying rounds will be played without a final. A single round-robin, direct matches or multiple team movement will be used in these 2 sessions to identify the teams in Ladderettes A and B of the first Ladderette Team event.
A quintet (5 teams) will be qualified into Ladderette A. The Ladder A will maintain a quintet, if possible, throughout the year. They will play in a 4-round multiple team format with 6 boards per round. There is NO Ladderette C or below. ALL new teams will be starting from Ladderette B. If there are 10 or more teams, Ladderette B will be divided into B1 and B2. If there are 21 or more teams, Ladderette B will be further divided into B1, B2 and B3. The format of Ladderette B will depend on the number of teams participated:

If there are 4 or less teams in the Ladderette, the WBF VP scale will be used with a bonus of 5 VPs added for each direct match won and 2.5 VPs for a tie. If there are 5 or more teams in the Ladderette, Swiss VP scale will be used without extra bonus VPs.
In general, the last 2 teams in Ladderette A together with teams having below-average scores will be demoted to Ladderette B (or to Ladderettes B1 and B2 separately). However, if there are 3 Ladderette B’s, at least the last 3 teams in Ladderette A will be demoted to Ladderette B. If case of 3 teams demoted to 2 Ladderettes B1 and B2, the 3rd placed team will be put into the Ladderette B1 while the 4th and 5th placed teams will be put into the Ladderette B2.
The number of top teams in Ladderette B promoted to Ladderette A in the next Ladderette Team event will be depended on number of vacancies. In general, the top team in each Ladderette B will be promoted to Ladderette A. If there are 3 vacancies in Ladderette A for teams in 2 Ladderettes B1 and B2, the top team in each Ladderette together with the 2nd-placed team with higher percentage score will be promoted to Ladderette A. For ties, direct matches and then IMP Quotients will be taken into account accordingly.
Moreover, all teams should have anchor players. Ranking point will be given to the each team in the following basis:
Ladderette A : 20, 17, 14, 12, 10
Ladderette B : 14, 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, 1, 1, 1 …
The overall winner is the team accumulating the most ranking points from the best 4 out of 6 Ladderette Team events, excluding the qualifying round. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks. For ties, all 6 Ladderette Teams events will be taken into account.
A simple Scrambled Mitchell movement will be used for all sessions with more than 7 tables. If there are 16 tables or more, 2 sections will be arranged and 2 winners from each direction will be produced. Otherwise, a Howell movement will be used with 7 or less tables. Total comparison of International Match Points (across the sections if needed) with maximum of 17 will be used in this event.
Ranking point will be given to the each pair in the following basis:
10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 (for first 9 pairs of each event only)
The overall winner is the pair accumulating the most ranking points from the best 4 out of 6 IMP Pairs events. Trophies will be given to the first 3 ranks. For ties, all 6 IMP Pairs events will be taken into account.

Both Match Point scoring (MP) and total comparison of International Match Points (across the sections if needed) with maximum of 17 (IMP) will be calculated (across the sections if needed). Both scoring will be mathematically re-scaled into 0 (lowest) to 100 (highest). In order to balance between the two scoring methods, the re-scaled MP score (by percentage) and IMP scores (by total IMPs) will be weighed in 55% and 45% respectively to the final score.
Ranking point will be given to the each player in the following basis:
10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 (for first 9 pairs of each event only)

Non-tournament Events
The formats and procedures for the following non-tournament events are applicable for the bridge year 2012 only. The calculation of the master points and special ranking points are as follows:
Calculation of the master points: MP = (N x F) / R
For the parameters: N = No. of teams / 10 for teams event
N = No. of pairs / 20 for pairs event
F = 6 for Ladder A / Ladderette A
F = 4 for Ladder B
F = 3 for Ladder C / Ladderette B
or general event
R = Ranking in that event
Master points are only awarded to the upper half of the field of the event. All master points will be rounded to the nearest one decimal place. Only 50% of the master points accumulated in the previous years can be brought forward to the current year.
Special Ranking Points will be given to the each player getting the top ranking in each tournament of those 5 year-round tournaments (Ladder Team, Ladderette Team, IMP pairs, MP Pairs and All-rounded Pairs) in the following basis:
10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1
